Sum Function In Excel

Sum is an important basic function in excel. You can use the sum formula for various purpose. The main objective of this formula is to get the total values of a specific range.

=SUM(NUMBER1:NUMBERn)

We can write SUM function using the above expression. Here NUMBER1 is from where your expected sum will start and the NUMBERn is where your formula stops doing sum.

The above image shows a simple SUM formula. We can see a total of DATA column in the total field. The formula is used here =SUM(C4:C13); The data range starts from C4 so we write C4 first and end with C13 since the range ends with C13

We can use sum by using the different way in excel. If our range exists only 2 or 3 cells we can easily use simple sum like below:

In the above cell, we used only =C3+C4 to find total salary. It is a very simple way to find the total.
